Born in Rochester, NY to a Dominican father and Puerto Rican mother. El Tiguere’s father, being a self-taught musician, imparted a feel and love for music that would permeate all that El Tiguere does. A passionate dancer and DJ, El Tiguere's style is full of swag, seximiento and energy. El Tiguere has successfully fused his training in Bachata at Island Touch Dance with his Dominican background and created a whole new style called Dominican Touch. El Tiguere dances for the Island Touch Salsa and Bachata teams. DJ Tiguere is internationally known for his Bachata Mixes and is a rising star in the Salsa DJ community.
DJ Afrodeshiak was born and raised in Nashville TN. After graduating college, she discovered and fell in love with international dance music including salsa, bachata, zouk and kizomba. Over the years, she joined a casino rueda dance group, started teaching classes in salsa, bachata, and kizomba, and DJed at various dance events in Nashville.
In 2013, she joined the ladies of Kizomba All Stars. Seeing the lack of female DJs in the kizomba dance scene, DJ Afrodeshiak stepped up to the challenge and began focusing on kizomba, semba, and afro house music.
When she is not playing her music she likes to travel the world for dance, ride her bike, and post articles on Facebook.
DJ Dixon is a veteran in the business, with over 15 years of experience mixing and entertaining.
He has done it all, from spinning vinyl records to using the most up-to-date digital equipment available today. His DJ strengths go beyond just music selections: he gives the crowd what they want - "Music for the people”.
Along the way, Dixon has gained other expertise including setup and use of industry standard sound boards and lighting setups, including those for a concert format. He also has experience managing the operations behind the scenes. He has worked with some of the largest Latin dance events in the US, including the Chicago International Salsa Congress and the Aventura Dance Cruise, managing sound quality, light controls, DJs, and other operations to maintain the right atmosphere for great performances and wonderful social dancing.
Dixon's resume also includes the B.I.G Salsa Festival, Boston Salsa Congress, Detroit Salsa Congress, and Baila! Memphis as well as dance socials in New York, Massachusetts, Michigan, Texas and Illinois.
DJ Antonio Quinn
Antonio Quinn is founder and director of Bohemian Africana, an interdisciplinary educational center dedicated to transformational work that combines creative and critical skills with educational curricula and multimedia. Drawing upon social and historical research, folklore, and mythology, the center connects the arts and humanities to community life. By collaborative artistic efforts, the center seeks to raise cultural awareness thru dramatic performance, music and literary criticism, the visual arts, dance, dj'ing and other multimedia presentations.
Antonio Quinn is a multimedia and interdisciplinary artist. He holds a B.A. in Sociology from Texas A & M and a M.A. in Liberal Studies from the University of Memphis.
DJ Johnny Mambo
Johnny Mambo is a salsero at heart and is currently a Saturday host on 98.5 FM New Mix, He has been killing the Memphis Salsa Scene for a few years now and always brings it when mixing. He plays music that people can not only dance to but also specializes in making people sweat! One of the best DJs in Tennessee, he always brings his A game, especially with the “Vinyl Hour.”
The Official DJ for The Mambo Revival and Mixed Motion Art dance studio in Chicago. DJ Freddy has been in the Chicago dance scene for the past 15 years, as both a DJ and a dancer. Known for his Salsa, Mambo and Cha Cha sets, his goal is to please the dancers. He prides himself in setting a great dance vibe and looks at every DJ set as a musical journey.
In addition to his monthly socials, he is also a resident DJ at Alhambra Palace and Harvest Moon in Chicago.
DJ Freddy has DJ’d at various venues in Chicago, Denver and Milwaukee. Most recently, he was invited to DJ at the Chicago Salsa Bachata Festival.
